About
"It's as if a soft hand lightly painted these words onto a piece of crumbling parchment paper and then left it there for you to find, very nearly at the end of time..."
[Online Book Club, Official Review of Magpie]
Influenced by the likes of Poe, du Maurier, Iain Banks, and Tolkien, Paul Jameson's work plays with the idea of there being another place, liminal, where hope and light, despair and darkness play out eternal. Here is a place of nature and magic, of other beings, be they physical or of the mind.
Diagnosed with a number of mental illnesses, Paul is a recluse who writes for the art, because he loves it, and because it helps keep him sane. Indeed, he used writing as a healing mechanism, only being able to write a sentence a day when he was very ill in 2014. Now he has three well-received novels to his name, and is currently working on a particularly large fantasy that is taking him beyond his bounds of comfort - enjoyably so.
If you enjoy speculative fiction, in an experimental style that embraces the art, and doesn't care much for rules, you may well enjoy Paul Jameson's work.
